Help

Darts keeps the score of your real darts games, on a real board. You tap what each dart hit; the app does the arithmetic, applies the rules and suggests the finish. No account, no network once the page has loaded. In French and English: the button at the top right switches the language.

Starting a game

Pick a game (x01, Cricket, Around the clock, Shanghai, Killer, Capital) or a practice (Count-up, Bob's 27). The game's usual settings show under its name; the rarer ones sit under “More options”.

Add 1 to 8 players. Each player has a colour: tap the dot to change it. The first names already typed on this device are offered under “Played here before”.

Who starts? The first in the list; or a bull-off: everyone throws one dart at the bull and you tap the closest; or at random: the order of play of all the players is drawn, and you can draw again before starting.

Entering the score

Dart by dart: tap Double or Triple when needed, then the number hit. Bull is 50, 25 the outer ring, Miss a dart off the board. The three darts of the turn show above the pad; after the third, the next player is up.

Per turn total (x01 and Count-up): type what the turn scored, 60 or 100 for example. The app refuses a total three darts cannot make. When the turn finishes the leg, it asks with how many darts.

Undo takes back the last dart, even when it was the previous player's. Correct opens the list of the turns of the current leg: pick the wrong one and enter it again; what follows is recomputed.

On a computer the keyboard works too: the digits for the number, D or T before it for a double or a triple, B for the bull, M for a miss, Backspace to undo.

Finishing help

In x01, under the current player's score, the app shows how to finish with the darts they have left, “T20 T20 Bull” for 170 for example. It updates after every dart.

When no finish is possible, it suggests the darts that leave the best finish for the next turn, “T20 T20 S9 → 40” for example. The “Finishing help” button at the top of the screen hides it for those who want none.

The games

x01 (301, 501, 701, 901, 1001). Everyone starts from the same score and counts down; the first to reach exactly 0 wins the leg. Going below 0, leaving 1, or finishing without the required double is a bust: the turn does not count. Options: the out rule (double out, straight out, or master out: double or triple), double in, the number of legs and sets, who starts the next leg.

Cricket. The numbers 20 to 15 and the bull. Three marks close a number (a single is one mark, a double two, a triple three). A number you have closed and an opponent has not scores points for you on every hit. The first to close everything with at least as many points as the others wins. Variants: cut-throat (your points go to the opponents, lowest wins) and no-score (closing only).

Around the clock. Hit the 1, then the 2, and so on up to the 20, then the bull. The first to finish wins. Options: a double counts two steps and a triple three; finish on the bull or on the 20.

Shanghai. In round 1 everyone aims at the 1, in round 2 at the 2, and so on over 7 or 20 rounds. Only the single, double and triple of the round's number score. The highest total wins. A Shanghai is the single, the double and the triple of the number in one turn: it wins at once when the option is ticked.

Killer. Each player first throws one dart to get a number. Hitting the double of your number makes you a killer. A killer who hits the double of someone else's number takes one of their lives. The last one with lives wins. Options: 3 to 5 lives; the double or any ring of the number; a killer who hits their own number loses a life.

Capital. A list of targets, one per turn, three darts each. The first turn makes your capital. Then a target made adds its points and a target missed halves your capital. The highest capital after the last target wins. Two lists to choose from: the 17 targets of the Capital app or the 15 contracts of the FSEF. The screen reminds you of the current target's rule and what a miss would leave you.

Count-up (practice). A fixed number of turns, 8 by default. Every dart scores its points. The highest total at the end wins. Alone or in a group.

Bob's 27 (doubles practice). 27 points to start. Three darts at double 1, then double 2, and so on up to double 20, then the bull. Every hit adds the double's value; when all three darts miss, it is taken away. Below zero you are out (the usual rule; an option turns it off). The perfect score is 1437.

The end of the game

The end screen shows the winner and a few statistics: average per turn, highest finish, number of 180s. In x01, “Next leg” goes on until the match is won.

“Rematch” starts the same game again with the same players; the first thrower rotates (in x01, as the “Who starts the next leg” setting says). “Share” sends the result as text, by message or to the clipboard. “End the game” stops a game in progress.

History and statistics

Every game stays on this device. The history lists them: you can reopen one, delete it or see its statistics. The Statistics page adds everything up per player over all the games.

Export downloads a file with all your games; Import reads it on another phone and adds what is missing, without erasing anything.

Sounds, vibration, screen

Every dart plays a short sound and a short vibration; a bust, a 180 or a leg won have their own. The two buttons at the top of the game screen turn them off or on.

“Keep the screen on during a game” stops the phone from going to sleep while you play. These three settings sit under “More options” when you start a game, and are kept for the next games.

Offline and on the home screen

Once the page has loaded, the app works with no network: a chalet without wifi is not a problem. The games you opened stay reachable offline.

From the browser's menu, “Add to Home Screen” or “Install” gives Darts an icon and a window of its own, like an app.

From a Tripping with friends trip

When Darts is added to a trip, its tab shows the trip's leaderboard and the latest games. “Start a game” opens Darts full screen with the group's first names already filled in.

At the end of a game, “Keep with the trip” adds it to the trip's leaderboard and overview. What Darts reads and writes on the trip is described on the Privacy page.
